What Focus Pause does
Focus Pause lets you pause websites you choose for a few hours, until tomorrow, or until the next Monday. When you visit a paused website, it shows the time remaining and a productivity quote. This policy describes version 1.1.0 of the extension.
Information handled on your device
For each pause, Focus Pause saves the selected website domain, the time the pause was created, and its expiration time in this Chrome profile. These settings let pauses continue after Chrome restarts and let the extension show an accurate countdown. A local version marker records whether the extension has migrated its site-permission settings.
When you use the current-tab shortcut, Focus Pause briefly reads the current tab’s URL to identify its website. For websites you have permitted, it also checks available tab URLs to redirect matching open tabs. It uses the domain to match your pauses. It does not save full URLs, URL paths, query strings, or a log of your browsing history.
Chrome also stores the site permissions you grant and the website redirect rules needed to apply your pauses. The extension does not read page content, messages, passwords, cookies, or form entries. It does not record clicks, keystrokes, screenshots, or browsing analytics.
Site access and your choices
Focus Pause requests access when you choose a website to pause. The request covers that website and its subdomains on HTTP and HTTPS. You can decline the request; a new pause will not be created without that access.
Chrome keeps a granted site permission after a pause ends unless you revoke it in Chrome’s extension settings. Revoking site access suspends blocking for a matching saved pause. The saved deadline is kept, and granting access again resumes blocking only if time remains. You can remove the saved pause with Resume and its confirmation.
Storage, sharing, and security
Pause settings stay in local storage for this Chrome profile. Focus Pause does not sync these settings to other devices or send them to the developer or an external server. The extension does not add encryption to its local settings; access to your device and Chrome profile affects who can access them.
Focus Pause has no accounts, advertising, analytics, telemetry, or external quote service. Its quotes, scripts, styles, and images are bundled with the extension. The extension makes no background network requests to transmit your data and does not download executable code.
Focus Pause does not sell, share, or transfer your pause settings or browsing information to third parties. It does not use that information for advertising, creditworthiness, lending, or unrelated purposes. Information obtained from Chrome APIs is used only for the website-pausing features described here, in accordance with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy’s Limited Use requirements.
If you choose Continue to website after a pause, Chrome opens that website’s homepage. Normal browsing then follows the destination website’s privacy practices.
Retention and removal
A saved pause is removed when you choose Resume and confirm. Expired pauses are removed when the extension processes expiry or next wakes, such as after restarting Chrome. If Chrome is closed or the extension is disabled, cleanup can wait until it runs again.
Ending a pause removes its active redirect rule but does not automatically revoke Chrome’s separate site permission. You can review or revoke that permission from Chrome’s extension settings. Removing the extension removes its local extension settings. Focus Pause has no server-side copy to retrieve or delete.
Contact and policy changes
For privacy questions or help, contact Conner McCraw at conner@9plus1.ai. If you choose to email support, your email address and the information you include are handled through ordinary email to answer your request. Support email is separate from the extension; the extension does not send it automatically.
If these practices change, the policy will be updated with a new revision date. Changes that require additional site access will continue to use Chrome’s permission controls.
